“Non–teaching staff” is a category defined as “anyone employed by a school system who doesn’t serve as a classroom teacher.” This can include administrative staff, cleaners, guidance counselors, librarians, custodians, food service personnel and even transportation workers. Non-teaching staff are staff other than Teaching staff engaged in Administrative, Secretarial, Laboratory, Library work etc. of the school.
A number of non–teaching personnel are employed in schools to meet students’ needs and complement teachers‘ professional roles and responsibilities. Effective working relationships among teachers and non–teaching personnel are essential, if students’ best interests and the goals of education are to be met.
