Free Oratory group workshops for Little Orators of Std. VII AND VIII was organised on 11th January, 2020, at Hills High School, Vesu. In this workshop, participants get an opportunity to learn and experience oratory skills by spending time in small groups with a team of mentors. They also get a chance to interact with students from other school.
After the workshop, a competition was organised on 9th February, 2020 at L.P. Savani, Vesu. Students were given different speeches which were edited in order to maintain their tempo, meaning and length. More importance was stressed on the manner in which the speeches are delivered, regarding tone and tenor. The following criterias were used for judging the speeches:
i) Body language – energy, stature, pose, audience inclusion
ii) use of pause and variation in speed to good effect
iii) Pronunciation and clarity of voice
iv) ‘Knowing’ the speech and what to speak
v) Expression of emotion conveys sincerity and understanding of Speech/context.
Dhwani Jariwala of Std. 8 won the 2nd Runners-up Trophy.
